چکیده

In the continuous-time domain, Maximum-Likelihood (ML) detection of a chirp signal in white Gaussian noise can be done via the line-integral transform of the classical Wigner distribution. The line-integral transform is known variously as the Hough transform and the Radon transform. For discrete-time signals, the Wigner-type distribution defined by Claasen and Mecklenbrauker has become popular as a signal analysis tool. Moreover, it is commonly believed that ML detection of a discrete-time chirp signal in white Gaussian noise can be done via the line-integral transform of the Wigner-Claasen-Mecklenbrauker distribution. This belief is false and results in loss of performance. We derive a Wigner-type distribution for discrete-time signals whose line-integral transform can be used for ML detection of discrete-time chirp signals in white Gaussian noise. We provide simulated Receiver Operating Curves for the WignerClaasen-Mecklenbrauker distribution based method and the new ML-equivalent method and demonstrate the suboptimality of the former.

Optimum decoder for multiplicative spread spectrum image watermarking with Laplacian modeling

This paper investigates the multiplicative spread spectrum watermarking method for the image. The information bit is spreaded into middle-frequency Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) coefficients of each block of an image using a generated pseudo-random sequence. Unlike the conventional signal modeling, we suppose that both signal and noise are distributed with Laplacian distribution, because the ...

Pervasive white and colored noise removing from magnetotelluric time series

Magnetotellurics is an exploration method which is based on measurement of natural electric and magnetic fields of the Earth and is increasingly used in geological applications, petroleum industry, geothermal sources detection and crust and lithosphere studies. In this work, discrete wavelet transform of magnetotelluric signals was performed. Discrete wavelet transform decomposes signals into c...

Radar Matched Filtering using the Fractional Fourier Transform

A matched filter is the optimal linear filter for maximizing the signal to noise ratio (SNR) in the presence of additive noise. Matched filters are commonly used in radar systems where the transmitted signal is known and may be used as a replica to be correlated with the received signal which can be carried out by multiplication in the frequency domain by applying Fourier Transform (FT). Fracti...

Time-frequency derivation of periodic wide band probing signals

An analysis of a discrete time-frequency distribution yields a new periodic wide band probing signal for use in unknown system identiication. The derivation is based on mathematical properties of the discrete Wigner distribution. Like the continuous distribution, the discrete version also sat-isses the covariance property, meaning transformations in the time-frequency plane are equivalent to tr...

RfLPP-Hough Transform for Chirp Signal Detection

In this paper, the reassigned local polynomial periodogram along the frequency direction (RfLPP) is shown to be able to perfectly localize the chirp signal. Due to this property, the RfLPP is combined with the Hough transform for chirp signal detection in the parameter domain. Simulations of the RfLPP-Hough transform are given for chirp signal detection in white Gaussian noise and impulsive noi...
